June 29, 2026
Summer is well & truly here and if the MET office is right then we’re in for a long hot Summer. With more sunshine forecast for the weeks ahead, there’s never been a better time for golf lovers to hit their favourite courses this Summer. And do it in style of course with CGL Chauffeur Drive.
Scotland is famous for its golf courses with over 500 spread across this wonderful country that we get to call home. From the world famous Old Course at St Andrews to the Royal Troon Golf Club on the west coast, the Royal Dornoch in the Highlands to Southerness Golf Club in Dumfries & Galloway, there are plenty of courses for you to choose from. And with CGL Chauffeur Drive, we can get you there in comfort and style.
Gleneagles Golf Club
One of the most well known golf club in Scotland, Gleneagles has a number of courses which are suitable for all skill types. There are 3 18-hole courses – ‘The Kings’, ‘The Queens’ and the ‘PGA Centenary’ courses along with a smaller 9-hole course called ‘The Wee Course’ which is perfect for all abilities including children. Situated in Perthshire, Gleneagles is roughly a one hour drive from both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports making it the perfect place for a day out. With CGL Chauffeur drive, we can collect you from practically anywhere and take you there & back in style.
Royal Troon Golf Club
Situated in the stunning coastal town of Troon down in Ayrshire, the Royal Troon was founded in 1878 and is considered one of the more challenging courses for golfers. The 152nd Open Championship was hosted here in 2024 and it’s 8th hole, lovingly known as the Postage Stamp is famous for being the shortest hole ever used in the Open Championship. The drive to this course is truly stunning, taking in gorgeous views of the Firth of Clyde.
The Old Course
Considered the most admired golf course in the world, The Old Course is probably the most famous golf course in the world, let alone in Scotland! Situated in the historic town of St Andrews, The Old Course is, not surprisingly, one of the oldest golf courses in the world – dating back to the 15th century. Golf packages are available here which includes a multi-night stay with breakfast and a three course dinner included. It can be a little tricky getting to St Andrews however via public transport and that’s where we come in. No need to stress yourself out with buses and trains, we will take you directly to The Old Course so you can sit back and relax.
Southerness Golf Club
Heading south of the central belt lies Southerness Golf Club – another Scottish Championship venue. Situated on the southern coast of Dumfries & Galloway with truly beautiful views over the Solway Firth and to Cumbria, this is a really popular course for golf lovers and a nice retreat from the central belt. Opened in 1947, this course is mostly level terrain so no steep hills to climb but also has the highest slope rating amongst all Scottish courses so you if you’re looking for a challenge, this is a great course to try out. This course is a good couple of hours away from Glasgow and Edinburgh and not near a motorway so let us get you there in comfort.
